Finance and Administrative Shared Services (FASS) is a strategic shared services hub within the Administrative Services portfolio. The FASS Business Operations group offers both transactional and strategic support across finance, accounting, travel, purchasing, contracts, and logistics. Within the group, the FASS Travel team provides comprehensive travel management services for business travelers in FASS-supported units. The team ensures the accurate and efficient handling of a high volume of travel arrangements and expense reports, delivering quality support to meet the dynamic needs of its clients.

Position Summary
As a member of the FASS Travel team, you play a critical role in the success of our supported units by providing full-service travel support. You are responsible for managing travel arrangements for faculty, staff, students, guests, and candidates, ensuring compliance with university policies, and providing exceptional customer service. You will serve as an expert in travel expense policy and will create expense reports accurately and efficiently.

Minimum Requirements
• Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
• An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
• Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Job Description:

The People Operations Specialist plays a pivotal role in the employee life cycle from on-boarding to off-boarding. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for all employees inquire and will collaborate with other People functions and other functions within the company to ensure all employees have a great employee experience.

Facilitates all employee actions including new hires, I-9/ E Verify, transfers, pay changes, status changes, and terminations, ensuring that all appropriate steps are completed in a timely and accurate manner
Responds to routine inquiries regarding HR matters including policies, benefits, payroll, paid time off
Delivers timely and accurate processing of HR transactions and maintains internal customer contact until matters are resolved
Educates and assists employees on company policies, practices, and tools to encourage efficiency in resolution
Responsible for integrity of our HRIS (Workday) data in both direct entries and through periodic audits of changes
Provides regular and ad hoc reports on HR information
In partnership with the Talent Acquisition Specialist, coordinates new hire onboarding including last minute hires and conversions. Work with IT, Payroll and NHO team to ensure employee experience is seamless
Updates and maintains process documentation
Participates in other HR initiatives and projects as needed
Provide Immigration back up as needed

Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

The position is responsible for routine Environmental and Health & Safety (EHS) compliance management at two electric power generation facilities in Central California and northwest Arizona. The home location is the Pastoria Energy Facility in Lebec, CA.

Responsible for complex, technical work in a wide range of EHS disciplines to maintain compliance with the organization’s EHS standards, federal and state regulatory requirements, and consensus industry standards. Performs Title V, EDR, DMR, EE/DT, TIER II, AEI, and other reporting as necessary. Should have Part 60 and Part 75 experience and knowledge of CEMS. Reviews and interprets EHS rules and regulations and advises management accordingly. Has fundamental understanding of EHS principles, concepts, practices, standards and regulations. Coordinates compliance assurance activities for safety and multi-media environmental programs, including air emissions, wastewater discharge, waste management, DOT and all associated monitoring, reporting, and other permit requirements. Serves as the liaison between regulatory agencies and plant staff. Has familiarity and experience using software applications and web-based tools related to EHS reporting for power plant operations. Reviews plant EHS procedures and makes recommendations for updates in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices. Champion for event-free operations and risk recognition/mitigation in environmental and safety areas, including Calpine Cardinal Safety Rules and occupational safety compliance. Investigates environmental and safety incidents, accidents, injuries, and near miss events. Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to mitigate potential hazards. Supports internal and external audits, agency inspections, and employee training related to EHS compliance and emergency preparedness. Prepares and maintains EHS compliance documents and records.

Job Responsibilities

Performs Title V, EDR, DMR, stormwater, hazardous materials business plan, and other reporting as necessary.
Provide oversight of major programs, which can include Safety for General Industry, Air & Water/Wastewater compliance, Waste Management, PSM/RMP/CalARP, DOT and EPCRA.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in Engineering or Science. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in EHS, preferably in the power generation industry.
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to EHS
Ability to travel overnight ~35% of time between regional plants and for meetings & training.
Professional EHS certification (e.g., CSP, CHMM, CIH, REM, etc.) is preferred.
