Senior Business Architect – NYC

The client is seeking a Senior Business Architect for our Guy Carpenter business.
This critical leadership role will be a member of the IT Broking and Distribution team and will be responsible for an optimal alignment of business needs with IT system design. Key attributes include expertise with reinsurance broking, fostering stakeholder relationships, understanding technical challenges, thinking creatively and being able to communicate complex matters concisely.
In this role, you will build a strong partnership with business leaders to understand their strategic direction and identify opportunities and approaches where technology can be applied to increase revenue, reduce costs and/or improve business process.
You will also work closely with fellow IT team members and stakeholders on managing your business application portfolio to help define projects and objectives, identify risks, plan workload, work on application roadmaps, helping solve production issues and thinking creatively to meet business challenges.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development of specific business-focused strategic plans to be used by IT in developing roadmaps and long-term solutions.
Work with IT architecture to ensure strategic priorities drives value for the business.
Help your business segment to understand the effort, risk and impact of making changes.
Understand and document business requirements and translate them to IT architects, developers, and testers.
Directs, plans, and manages tasks related to assigned application portfolio including stakeholder communications.
Learn and understand all technical and non-technical aspects related to assigned projects. Work with the systems maintenance team to ensure smooth transition when the project development is completed.
Drive issue resolution, develop business knowledge and participate in developing technical alternatives.
Respond quickly in a rapidly changing business environment.
Research and participate in training and stay current on related issues and technologies.
Understand security, privacy and regulatory requirements affecting your application portfolio.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree
8+ years of reinsurance broking experience
Deep understanding of the reinsurance broking business, processes, and data
Knowledge of IT Systems (e.g., Infrastructure, Applications and Data)
Knowledge of project financials (ROI, CapEx and OpEx)
5+ years of experience managing technical projects preferred.
Experience in managing teams that consist of both company employees and 3rd parties preferred.
Very strong communication, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills
Fluent English
