The Sr. Healthcare Data analyst works with the Manager and other departments with their data information needs by analyzing medical and pharmacy claims, eligibility data, and external data. This includes understanding business needs, defining and communicating deliverables, as well as performing any necessary data manipulation and aggregation. This individual will be a primary user of the data warehouse as well as various internal information systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

Collects, compiles and analyzes data to measure and report on provider and program performance
Responds to requests for data by determining users’ needs, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, and providing accurate and complete reports
Works with other analysts to perform financial analysis of hospital, physician and ancillary costs and utilization
Works with other analysts to perform a variety of ad-hoc analysis and reports as requested
Produces standard periodic reports to meet users’ needs
Identifies, develops and implements methods for improving reporting efficiency
Performs checks and audits of various data sources to ensure data is accurate and complete
Maintains and applies knowledge of current trends, practices and developments in health care
Mentors and trains other analysts in defining methodologies and coding to improve efficiency and accuracy
Sets goals and achieves measurable results
Contributes ideas to setting and achieving department goals
Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities and requirements of the job

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must be fully-vaccinated for COVID-19

Years of Experience and Knowledge

Minimum of 5-years’ experience in Healthcare analytics and claims data analysis
Minimum of 5-years’ experience using SAS and/or SQL programming
Minimum of 2-years’ experience with Power BI including visualizations, dataset building, and report authoring
Working knowledge and experience in industry coding (revenue codes, ICD 9 &10 classifications, CPT codes, etc.)
Experience in a hospital or managed care environment with a focus on medical cost and utilization analysis
Clear understanding and hands-on experience in claims data analysis
High-level understanding of analytical methodologies

Education, Licenses, and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Informatics, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience required
Preferred: Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Informatics, Computer Science, or related field

Skills and Abilities

Advanced level Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills
10% ~ 15% travel
Advanced SAS and/or SQL programming skills
Advanced Power BI skills
Strong attention to detail
