Role: Data QA Engineer Must Have(Black Box, White Box Testing)

General Description
As a Senior Data QA Engineer at , you will design and execute the testing
strategy for our new central Data Lake initiative. Our data sets are focused on
financial market information from both vendor and internal sources to meet our
business needs. You will be responsible for creating, evaluating, and
maintaining test plans and cases that centralized data in Hadoop for processing
and push to MS SQL data marts for user and application consumption. Testing
both Big Data and Microsoft SQL Server based solutions. The ideal candidate has
a passion for quality, financial services and data technologies. A love for
learning and flexibility is also key. We are Agile so knowing Scrum is a big
plus.
Primary Responsibilities
Test architecture, planning, design and implementation
Create data and SQL centric testing strategies with acceptance criteria
that meets defined business requirements
Create, execute and validate test plans and cases with business owners and
data engineers
Work with DevOps to create and maintain test environments (both Linux and
Windows)
Demo data solutions to business stakeholders and obtain sign off
Fill out and manage the release tickets through user acceptance (UAT) and
production
Business Interaction
Work directly with business members to understand requirements and ensure
acceptance criteria is met
Perform all aspects of User Acceptance Testing: answering client questions,
tracking and reporting issues, determining and classifying bug versus
enhancement
Tools and Test Methodologies
Agile Testing
Automated Integration Testing
Experience with testing automation tools as applied to data solution is
highly desirable
Job Requirements
Excellent SQL skills ? highly proficient with SELECT statements
2+ years of QA experience primarily in data solutions
Deep experience in creating and documenting test plans, test case scenarios
and processes.
Strong analytical skills, judgment and ability to understand complex
business problems quickly
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Well-versed in all testing methodologies (black box, white box, system,
functional, exploratory and automated testing)
Background in data engineering, data testing frameworks and automation
preferred
Demonstrated ability to code in scripting languages such as Python,
Powershell, Perl, etc.
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent education and experience
