Registered Nurse

We are looking for experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses to fill our full-time positions. In this role, you will be joining a team of highly-qualified and trained healthcare staff at one of the most reputable, high-volume Correctional facilities in the state.

We need leaders who exhibit exceptional nursing skills who will support the health care and wellness needs of incarcerated individuals and have the ability to provide culturally competent care to diverse populations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the provision of compassionate, patient-centered care supportive of the patient’s own goals, and motivated toward positive health outcomes.

Pay rate: $35 per hour

Divisional Shifts, Days Vary:
(Day) Outside rounds 5:45a-6:15p
(Day) Operating Room – 6:30a-3p
(Overnight) Urgent Care – 5:45p-6:15a
(Overnight) Hospital – 5:45p-6:15a

Requirements (Please ensure you meet all requirements before applying):
Active North Carolina Registered Nurse License (cannot be expired or from another state).
Valid North Carolina Driver’s License, cannot be from another state.
Must have Active BLS/CPR License (American Heart Association only)
1 year minimum RN experience required.
Provide a copy of up-to-date physical exam and current TB screening signed by a physician.
Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.
Must be comfortable working in a potentially hazardous environment that includes, but not limited to, incarcerated individuals with criminal backgrounds, and potential exposure to pepper spray.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb stairs, walk long distances, and frequently lift up to 30 pounds. Under seldom circumstances, may be required to lift up to 50 pounds and pull with up to 100 pounds of force.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Complete high-volume physical health assessments.
Work collaboratively with the healthcare team in meeting the continuous health needs of all patients.
Administer medication including injectibles.
Provide timely, accurate documentation and maintain accurate medical records for all patients.
Manages pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
Assists in the overall team case management, counseling, and support functions.
Provide assistance and support, including referral processes for transitioning patients outside of the facility.
Communicate regularly with other medical staff and clinical staff regarding patient health care and medication needs.
Educate, counsel, and support patients in relation to their physical health and wellness care.
Serve as a consultant to healthcare staff on medication, health, and safety concerns.
Assist facility operation with attaining patient’s Temperature, Pulse, Respiration, Weight, Body Mass Index (BMI) and injections.
Must be organized, able to manage competing priorities, and possess strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Contract employment agreement: This position will begin with a 13+ week contract. Upon satisfactory completion of the contract, if both parties so choose, an offer may be extended for permanent placement which may include additional perks, benefits, and potential career advancement.
