Commercial auto and general liability Claims Examiner

• Handles commercial auto and general liability claims for clients with high deductible programs and tractor trailer fleets
• Analyzes and processes complex or technically difficult commercial auto liability and general liability claims by investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim;
• Manages claims through well-developed action plans and brings them to effective resolution.
• Communicates claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client; maintains professional client relationships. Ability to interface with senior management of client including members of Risk Management and Legal Department
• Manages all vendors involved in the claims processes, including defense counsel
• Negotiates settlement of claims within designated authority.
• Attends mediations on significant matters
• Calculates and assigns timely and appropriate reserves to claims; manages reserve adequacy throughout the life of the claim.
• Coordinates vendor referrals for additional investigation and/or litigation management.
• Uses appropriate cost containment techniques including strategic vendor partnerships to reduce overall cost of claims for our clients.
• Manages claim recoveries, including but not limited to subrogation
• Reports claims to, and maintains communication with, primary and excess carrier(s); while remaining cognizant of potential for disagreement in evaluation or resolution plan between the client and/or primary and excess carrier(s).
• Ensures claim files are properly documented and claims coding is correct.
• Refers cases as appropriate to supervisor and management.
