Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to apply general knowledge of hazardous materials to assist with hazardous materials related programs and professional services EH&S provides to the university. This includes regulatory compliance assessment, and implementation of materials handling and shipping procedures. It also includes material handling support to the hazardous and universal waste management programs and associated program compliance activities. Hazardous materials and wastes may include biological, chemical, and/or radioactive constituents. Universal wastes include fluorescent light tubes, batteries, and other materials that are hazardous if not appropriately managed through a universal waste recovery program.

It is an essential requirement of this position to qualify for and maintain UO driver’s certification eligibility, which includes maintaining an Oregon driver’s license throughout employment in this position. It is an essential requirement of this position to obtain and maintain HAZWOPER certification within 6 months of hire; this includes ability to use protective equipment including but not limited to full-face respiratory protection.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree with primary focus (45 quarter hours or 32 semester hours) in the physical sciences; OR
• An Associate’s degree in the science field and two years of related experience; OR
• A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or professional certifications.

Position Summary
Located within the University of Oregon Police Department, The Security Operations Center (SOC) Program Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the SOC. This includes managing the Communication Officer training program and ensuring that laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures are upheld. The incumbent will implement processes and procedures to ensure standards are met and in line with federal, state and university laws, policies, standards, and internal policies and procedures. The Program Manager must be able to perform all dispatch duties as a communications officer and fills in as a communications officer during emergency situations, special events, staff shortages, etc.

This position requires the ability to work a standard work week with occasional extended hours and shift work. The incumbent will need general availability to work non-traditional hours based on organizational need. The position assists the Associate Director in coordinating with Directors and Managers within SRS and other campus units to maintain and update SOC protocols. Such tasks include setting priorities, assessing customer needs, and responding to those needs.

Work is reviewed regularly by the Supervisor to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance appraisal is conducted annually.

• Bachelor’s degree or two (2) years supervisory dispatch or dispatch training/lead experience OR an equivalent combination of education experience related to the position.
