The Lead Healthcare Coding Specialist’s responsibility is to serve as the expert in the field for the market. This person will apply his or her technical and specialized expertise to help healthcare coding and associated documentation remain compliant with government regulations while identifying opportunities for increased quality and financial success.
The Lead Healthcare Coding Specialist will create educational material in both Risk Adjustment and Quality Measure coding, educate providers and complete chart audits, and educate and audit the work of lower-level coders to maintain the high-quality work of the department.
Required skills & experience (the “must haves” to be considered)
– Bachelor degree or equivalent experience required.
– At least 4-5 years of relevant professional experience (risk adjustment education
and coding, acute care and/or outpatient coding, and auditing experience
– Certification in coding required (CPC, CRC, CCP, CCS)
– Knowledge of the Medicare and its rules, regulations, forms and procedures.
– Must have outpatient experience, preferably in family med or internal med
