Area Storage in Virginia Beach is a self-storage facility that is currently hiring a part-time assistant manager.

Employee must work 4 days a week, every Saturday, Sunday and two weekdays. Hours average around 27 hours per week. Applicant must be willing to fill in at our other Virginia Beach location, when needed

Responsibilities:
• Renting, reserving, and vacating storage units
• Renting moving truck
• Performing opening and closing procedures
• Answering phones and returning messages
• Performing collection calls
• Receiving payments
• Selling and stocking merchandise
• Cleaning and light maintenance of property
• Light lifting required

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Prior storage experience preferred, but not required
• Able to work alone
• Able to work in extreme conditions including rain, heat, and cold
• Strong customer service skills
• Accurate administration skills
• General computer knowledge including MS Office
• Able to learn operating software
• Must have reliable transportation to run bank deposits and/or errands
• Must be able to drive a 14 foot moving truck on occasion
• Must be reliable and punctual. Excessive absences and tardiness will not be tolerated

Starting pay is $14.00/hr.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the physical plant of the facility.

Position Summary

The Material Handler loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – includes the following, but others may be assigned

• Uses ladders and forklifts to reach necessary parts.
• Pulls parts per Bill of Materials, engineering drawings of subassemblies, or pick list to accumulate the required parts to build the designated product.
• Loads materials onto carts from pallets, racks, and shelves by hand, or with the use of a forklift into the designated area.
• Daily inspects and documents the forklift. Reports maintenance issues associated with the equipment.
• Secures lifting attachments to materials and transports carts to destination.
• Reviews Kanban cards to determine when reorder of products is needed and turns in Kanban card to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment daily.
• Assists with receiving duties to put parts up when received into their designated locations.
• Safely operates forklift, overhead crane, or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• Drives the company truck as needed to pick up or deliver parts to / from vendors.
